![]() Over the past year during the pandemic, the number of television interviews on the news or otherwise that took place remotely increased greatly, for obvious reasons. ![]() Categories Uncategorized Tags art collection, Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand, dogs, tv interview, tv news, William Wegman, Zoom backgrounds Leave a comment At any rate, nice art! Recognizable art in the background of a tv news interview. My linked image for the Wegman might not be an exact match, but I definitely recognize this from a series that he did where he photographs two dogs but has one laying down to look like the shadow of the standing dog. I can’t really tell what the abstract art works are on the left side, but I recognized the kneeling figure behind him as a version of the Ayn Rand “Atlas Shrugged” book cover, and the black and white photo to the right of that is a William Wegman photograph of his Weimaraner dogs. In this case, I actually recognized some of what this guy (blurred out for privacy purposes) has in the background for his television news interview. I’ve noticed and shared a series of television screenshots where the person being interviewed on the news has some interesting art in the background of their location … and usually it’s unknown (to me) but cool or funky art. The wigs or hairpieces, I found that they are the work of Israeli artist Tal Frank, from a series called “Variations on the Twelve Themes,” you can scroll down on this page to see two of them reproduced on the artist’s website. You can see more about the bat on his website here. The baseball bat is the work of Sebastian Errazuriz, who is a designer, artist, entrepreneur and activist based in New York. The piece appears to be a variation on an artwork by Rob Pruitt titled “Wild Thing” from 2011 – you can see one version here, although it doesn’t have the orangeish tint that Herschman’s piece has. I totally appreciate his desire to showcase some of his art collection, but the panda is so distracting, I find it kind of hard to pay much attention to what Herschmann was saying. I have to admit, at first glance, I thought it was a big hamster – the pale orangeish color on the face reminded me of our now deceased family pet hamster “Puffy.” But indeed, it is a panda, and the other art work behind him include a small baseball bat with the word “Justice” and three metallic sculptures that look like hairpieces. But today, as I briefly tuned in to the January 6th Hearings, I was a bit amused to see the following setup for Eric Herschmann, a Former White House Senior Advisor … he has himself positioned in front of a big panda! Scroll down for more … Eric Herschmann is standing in front of a giant panda wall art piece for his January 6th Hearing interview. I’ve noticed and reported a series of blog posts on some interesting background settings for tv news interviews and the various ways that the people being interviewed consciously want to showcase art behind them. Share your ideas in the comments section below. I thought these two scenes made for a nice combination – Michelangelo and cartoon cave art! Which one do you like better? From Michelangelo prints to cartoon cave art – nice art for the office, as seen on tv. But then, once the commercials started up, I was flipping channels and happened upon an episode of the Flintstones, where Fred’s boss at the rock quarry was also showing off some art from his office. Here’s an addition to the group, with a slight twist: the first image, below left, is indeed a cable tv news interview where the man talking made sure to have his framed print of Michelangelo’s Delphic Sibyl from the Sistine Chapel prominently in the background. ![]() I’ve had a series of blog posts where I enjoy seeing and sharing the type of art people position themselves in front of for news interviews or Zoom meetings.
